At the 27th National Pishu Annual Conference and the 2nd Think Tank Forum on Chinese-Style Modernization Research, hosted by Social Sciences Academic Press on August 14, the Academy’s Blue Books—Beijing Digital Economy Development Report (2024–2025) and Beijing Cultural Development Report (2024–2025)—received First Prize and Third Prize respectively in the National Outstanding Pishu Awards. The Beijing Digital Economy Development Report received First Prize for the second consecutive year, while the Beijing Cultural Development Report has received Outstanding Pishu Awards and Outstanding Pishu Report Awards on multiple occasions.
The Beijing Digital Economy Development Report (2024–2025) focuses on the primary task of advancing the capital’s high-quality development. Combining quantitative research with qualitative analysis, the report reviews the scale and development of Beijing’s urban digital economy, highlights the role of the digital economy in fostering new quality productive forces, identifies the critical impact of the market-oriented allocation of data factors, emphasizes the growing importance of artificial intelligence in global competition, and calls for the joint development of digital infrastructure across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. In doing so, it systematically explores a future vision for digital and intelligent development with distinctive characteristics of the capital. The General Report provides a systematic examination of the overall economic landscape and reviews Beijing’s digital economy development in 2024. The report notes that Beijing has made significant progress in digital technology innovation, maintains a nationally leading level of digital infrastructure development, continues to strengthen the market-oriented allocation of data factors, and has developed a distinctive “one district, one specialty” pattern, with each district cultivating digital economy industries based on its own comparative strengths. The report also analyzes emerging trends in the global digital economy, noting that artificial intelligence has become a new arena of global competition and that digital technologies are undergoing a new wave of integrated innovation. It also proposes policy recommendations including accelerating technological innovation, strengthening the development of the data factor market, and advancing digital opening-up.
The Beijing Cultural Development Report (2024–2025) provides a comprehensive overview of the trends, major achievements, and future prospects of Beijing’s cultural development in 2024, while offering forward-looking strategic insights and policy recommendations. This year’s Blue Book comprises a General Report and a series of thematic sub-reports, focusing on “Cultural Strategy and Cultural Demonstration” “Cultural Inheritance and Heritage Protection” “Culture for the Benefit of the People and Public Services”“Cultural Innovation and Integrated Development” and “Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations”. Key topics include achievements in developing Beijing as the National Cultural Center during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, coordinated cultural development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the digital transformation of the cultural and tourism industry, the protection and revitalization of the Beijing Central Axis cultural heritage, and the development of Beijing as a “City of Museums.” The report combines a systematic macro-level analysis of Beijing’s overall cultural development with detailed studies of specific areas and puts forward practical and feasible policy recommendations in response to the issues identified.
