At the special session for the release of major achievements held on the evening of September 22 during the 2026 Beijing Culture Forum, the Beijing Cultural Development Report (2025–2026), compiled by our Academy, was prominently presented as one of the key achievements. President He Yalan attended the release event, together with Huang Zhongshan, Director of the Institute of Culture; Jing Junmei, Deputy Director of the Institute of Culture; Bi Juan, Director of the Office of Scientific Research Organization; and Li Aimin, Director of the Online Publicity Department.

The release was presented in video format. The video introduced the Beijing Cultural Development Report as a blue book compiled by the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences and an important research achievement in the study of the capital’s culture. Twenty-two volumes have been published to date, and the report has received the national “Outstanding Pishu Award” eight times. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, the Beijing Cultural Development Report (2025–2026) reviews Beijing’s achievements over the past year in areas including the protection and transmission of cultural heritage, the development of cultural undertakings and cultural industries, and cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. The report highlights that protection of the Beijing Central Axis has entered a new stage, revenue in the cultural industries has maintained a strong growth, the coverage rate of four-tier public cultural service facilities has reached 99%, and an integrated development pattern encompassing culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibitions has largely taken shape. The report provides decision-making reference and intellectual support for the high-quality development of the capital’s culture. The research and writing team at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences will continue to deepen its research and make new and greater contributions to the prosperity of the capital’s culture and to mutual learning among civilizations.

The release represents an important showcase of our Academy’s think tank achievements on the Beijing Culture Forum, a national-level platform with an international reach. It also provides a vivid example of how our Academy’s think tank research serves the development of the capital. Over the years, our Academy has remained guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and upheld its important positioning as “a brain trust for decision-making, academic hub, a platform for public communication, and a social think tank.” Keeping in mind “matters of fundamental importance to the country,” our Academy has remained rooted in the capital while maintaining a broad overall perspective, focused on major theoretical and practical issues concerning the capital’s development, and carried out in-depth research that is overarching, strategic, and forward-looking. As key think tank achievements of our Academy, the ten blue books series, including the Beijing Cultural Development Report, cover multiple fields such as economy, culture, and social governance. They continuously document the capital’s development, systematically summarize practical experience, deepen understanding of underlying patterns, and put forward policy recommendations. These publications have become important vehicles for supporting evidence based decision-making, responding to public concerns, and expanding the influence of the Academy’s think tank work, thereby effectively enhancing both the policy reference value and the social impact of its research findings. Looking ahead, our Academy will continue to draw on its strengths as a high-end think tank for the capital, further improve the quality and standard of its blue book research and development, and provide even stronger intellectual support for the capital’s development in the new era.
