　　On August 25, the Eighth Congress of the Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles was held. The Congress reviewed and approved the Work Report of the Seventh Committee of the Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles and the revised Charter of the Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles‌, and elected the Federation’s new leadership. Xie Hui, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of our academy, was elected Vice Chairperson of the Eighth Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles. Yang Weiguo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Academy, and Huang Zhongshan, Director of the Institute of Culture, were elected members of its Standing Committee.

　　According to the election results, Cui Shuqiang was elected Chairman of the Eighth Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles. Twenty-six members, including Wang Yuqiang, Guo Yong, Liu Hui, Liu Ying, Xu Xing, Yang Zhijun, Shen Jie, Chu Xiaobo, Zhang Ji, Zhang Dayu, Zhang Dongping, Chen Wei, Chen Rui, Chen Shuguang, Ouyang Hui, Zheng Xinye, Meng Fanhua, Xu Xiangmei, Gao Xiangyang, Cao Wenjun, Kang Zhen, Xie Hui, Lei Xingshan, Lian Si, Zhai Degang and Wei Houkai were elected Vice Chairpersons.

　　Over the next five years, the Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles will deepen the systematic and theoretical research and interpretation of the Party’s innovative theories, focus on the development of the capital, better fulfill its role as a “think tank” and “brain trust”, advance the building of a Chinese intellectual system in philosophy and social sciences, and strive to open up a new prospect for the high-quality development of philosophy and social sciences in the capital.
