President He Yalan Attended the Third Tianfu Forum on Ecological Civilization and Delivered a Keynote Speech

  On July 17, the academic symposium “The Third Tianfu Forum on Ecological Civilization: Accelerating the Comprehensive Green Transition of Economic and Social Development” was held in Chengdu, Sichuan and President He Yalan attended the event upon invitation. Hosted by the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, the forum brought together more than 130 participants, including experts, scholars, and government representatives from across the country working in the field of ecological civilization research.


  The opening ceremony was chaired by Yang Ying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences. Remarks were delivered by Liu Liyun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences; Jian Xiaowen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences; Huang Chaochun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guizhou Academy of Social Sciences; Cheng Ningbo, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of the Shaanxi Academy of Social Sciences; Wang Tinghui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences; and Chen Huai, President of Aba Teachers College.
  During the keynote presentation session, He Yalan together with Lei Xianzhang—a National Distinguished Expert‌, Member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering,‌ Chief Scientist for Carbon Neutrality at Southwest Petroleum University‌, and Chief Scientist at the Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory; Xia Guang—Vice Chairman of the China Environmental Protection Federation and Member of the National Expert Committee on Ecological and Environmental Protection under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment; Huang Jing, former Director of the Administrative Centre for China’s Agenda 21 under the Ministry of Science and Technology and Member of the National Expert Committee on Climate Change; Cheng Xiangzhan, Professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and concurrently affiliated with the School of Arts at Sun Yat-sen University; Liu Li, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of the Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences; and Du Shouhu, former Vice President and Distinguished Research Fellow of the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, respectively delivered thematic speeches.
  Focusing on the theme “Demonstrating the Mission and Responsibility of Social Science Think Tanks in Advancing Green Transformation,” He Yalan exchanged views with attending experts and scholars on aspects such as “raising political awareness and profoundly grasping the value implications of green transformation,” “anchoring the mission of transformation and demonstrating the responsibility of social science think tanks,” and “leveraging the role of think tanks to collaboratively serve the overall development agenda of the 15th Five-Year Plan.” He Yalan pointed out that the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development is not only a strategic choice for implementing Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization and advancing Chinese modernization, but also a profound transformation encompassing values, modes of production, lifestyles, and governance systems. Social science think tanks, He Yalan emphasized, should take the lead and make their voices heard. He Yalan further stated that our Academy regards research and interpretation of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization as a critical political task. It is building a high-end think tank to the highest standards, integrating interdisciplinary research capabilities to deepen the systematic and theoretical research and interpretation of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization; optimizing think tank operational mechanisms to enhance its  decision-support capacity; innovating channels for theoretical dissemination to ensure Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization takes deep root in people’s hearts; and strengthening collaboration with sister academies of social science and other relevant research institutions, so as to jointly provide research support for Beautiful China during ‌the 15th Five-Year Plan period and contribute wisdom and strength to the comprehensive green transition of economic and social development.
  The forum featured three parallel sessions: “Building Solid Eco-Security Shields,” “Accelerating the Formation of Green Modes of Production and Living,” and “Carrying Forward China’s Ecological and Cultural Heritage.” Lu Xiaocheng, Director of the Institute of Urban Problems and Research Fellow at our academy, participated in the parallel session on “Accelerating the Formation of Green Modes of Production and Living” and exchanged views with relevant experts and scholars on the topic “Digital-Intelligent Technologies Empowering Green and High-Quality Development: Theoretical Logic, Practical Challenges, and Pathways.”
  
  During the visit to Chengdu, He Yalan also led a delegation to the Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan, Sichuan; the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone; and the Sichuan University Museum. Focusing on topics such as the protection and utilization of world-class cultural heritage resources, the high-quality development of the cultural and tourism industries and the development of park cities, and the building of a “Beautiful China” characterized by harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, the delegation carried out research and study activities. They gained firsthand understanding of the practical achievements of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City in promoting cultural heritage preservation and development, and in advancing the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and also learned from the advanced working experience of the relevant institutions.
  Staff members from the Institute of Culture, the Institute of Urban Problems, the Institute of Management, as well as the General Administrative Office and the Office of Think Tank Construction and Management at our academy, also participated in the forum and the research activities.
